Two local artists anonymously judged the show and prizes were presented for all the categories at the Artist Reception on Saturday, April 17. This year, the judges asked that their honorarium be used to provide $20.00 cash prizes for the winners. An additional prize, a People’s Choice award, will be awarded on May 15th at the Friends of the Library’s Friends Photo Lottery! Community members are encouraged to stop by any time until May 10th to vote for the People’s Choice award.

Gallery Coordinator, Connie Bailey explains, “Once again, this is another event which highlights our lovely gallery right here in Topsham. The People’s Choice award will be presented at the Friends Photo Lottery and all the winners will be on hand for a Photographers Talk at 11:00. The Artist/Photographer Talks are a wonderful component of most of the library’s exhibits. We ask the exhibitors to share a little bit about their process and why they do what they do. We find that the community members who attend are fascinated to hear from the creators, themselves about the exhibited works.”

Library Director, Susan M. Preece commended the members of the Joy of the Lens committee for their hard work and the judges for their support. “Events like this take careful planning and organization. The Committee has really thought of everything. This is a very exciting show! We have had so many positive comments about the quality of the work.” said Preece.

Exhibit runs from April 12-May 15, 2010
